CREAMED CHIPPED BEEF ON TOAST

HERE IS A DETAILED RECIPE FOR MAKING CREAMED CHIPPED BEEF ON TOAST:

INGREDIENTS:

1 Pkg.Of dried chipped beef, thinly sliced.

4 Tbsp.Of unsalted butter.

1/4 Cup.Of all-purpose flour.

2 Cups.Of whole milk,

1/2 Tsp.Of black pepper (or to taste).

Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for a little heat).

8 slices.Of toast (You can use any type of bread you prefer).

Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional).

PREPARATION:

1st Step

Start by rinsing the desiccated beef chips with cool water. This will help reduce the excessive salinity, which can otherwise be oppressive. After thoroughly draining the beef, blot it dry with paper towels before shredding or chopping it into tiny pieces.

2nd Step

In a saucepan of medium size, soften the butter over medium heat. Once the butter has melted and begun to froth, add the shredded beef. Cook the beef for two to three minutes, stirring intermittently, until it begins to caramelize.

3rd Step

Spread the flour over the beef while continuously whisking to produce a roux. Continue simmering the roux for approximately 2 minutes, or until it acquires a golden hue. This will help eradicate the flour's natural flavor.

4th Step

Slowly pour in the milk while consistently whisking to prevent clots. Continue stirring until the mixture becomes viscous and creamy, which typically takes 5 minutes.

5th Step

Season the gravy with black pepper and, if you like a bit of heat, a pinch of cayenne pepper. Remember that the beef is already salted, so it may not be necessary to add additional salt.

6th Step

Toast the bread slices to your desired level of crispiness while preparing the gravy. Place the toasted bread on individual dishes or a platter for serving.

7th Step

Pour a generous amount of the velvety chipped beef gravy over each piece of toast, covering the entire surface. And, if desired, garnish with minced fresh parsley for added flavor and color.
